The Kingdom of Heaven

The Kingdom of Heaven

Jesus taught about the kingdom of heaven through parables in the 13th chapter of Matthew.  He likened the kingdom of heaven to a farmer that planted wheat, only to find weeds sown in as well.  Similarly, a fisherman who caught good fish as well as bad in the same net symbolizes the kingdom of heaven.  Jesus also explained how the kingdom of heaven would begin like a seed and grow up to be a large tree, with birds of the air resting in it.  A small portion of yeast also fills an entire loaf of bread, just like the kingdom of heaven.  Jesus taught that the kingdom of heaven is infinitely valuable, worthy of selling all that one has in order to obtain it.  These word pictures have deep meaning and as we grow in Christ, we will have a fuller understanding of what our Lord communicated about the kingdom of heaven.

See Matthew 13 for the whole story.

I hope that this image will be a reminder to you of the truth of God’s Word, the value of His kingdom, and His wisdom in ordaining how it is built and impacts the world.
