The Apostle Paul exhorted and warned the people of God to put on every spiritual device given to us by the Lord in order that we may be victorious against the schemes of Satan. He called this collection of offensive and defensive elements “the armor of God.” This image portrays the shield of faith, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, and the belt of truth in each corner of a strong, triangular composition. Centrally located are the two other components of our armor. We read that our feet are to be fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Rays of sky are shooting out from the sandaled foot as it treads the earth to show how the believer brings heaven to bear upon daily physical interactions. Doves, symbolizing peace and the Holy Spirit, flow outward from the ready feet. The largest dove is also breathing out a scroll of God’s written Word, which is intertwined with a sword. The rainbow lines that stream from heaven and return symbolize how God sends forth His animating Word from heaven and accomplishes all He has determined for it. It does not return to Him void, as we read in Isaiah 55.
See Ephesians 6:10-17, along with Isaish 55:11 for the whole story.
